And there’s the rub. We have to die to our own interests and desires to fulfill God’s desires. He desires for our enemies to become family. We desire for our families to be made up of people we get along with, like even. But like an arranged marriage that blossoms over time into a great love, so we can learn to love our enemies by first getting to know them and spending time with them and treating them like family.
