Stories as Instruments

If our lives are music, stories are the instruments that arrange it.

He Saw That It Was Good p. 4

We can’t escape stories. Everyone is telling one—about themselves, about others. Every community tells stories—about itself, its people, and those outside the community. Every nation tells stories. But which ones get written down? Get passed on? Ignored? Covered up?

And God is telling his story—about himself and about us. And its a true story (while those we and communities and nations tell may or may not be) and one that trumps all others. But for it to have an effect on the others, we have to hear it, listen to it—on repeat—and believe it.
