Plowing through a field of idols—what a provocative image. The prophets also call us to break up our fallow ground (Jeremiah 4, Hosea 10). I suppose it would be less painful to recognize our fruitless idols and repent from them before Jesus has to provoke a crisis to get to our hearts.
